This analysis probes aspects of two of the most critical areas of contemporary relations between the United States and the Caribbean region: Geopolitics and Geonarcotics. The discourse is built around two central questions. First, what are some relevant Geopolitical dynamics of United States interests and engagement in the contemporary Caribbean? Second, what are some crucial Geonarcotics dynamics that feature in contemporary relationships between the United States and the Caribbean? In relation to the first question, the study examines some of the national interest manifestations of the geopolitical interest in the Caribbean, including natural resources and military installations. Also important is the engagement of other actors, notably China and Venezuela. As regards Geonarcotics, the discourse extends beyond drug trafficking, to the critical public security issues of crime and arms trafficking, and other factors.
